With the Summer Deck, the counterpart to Winterdeck is now opening its doors to all kinds of neighborhood revelers. Where in the pre-Christmas season annually hot drinks provide for warm thoughts, in the summer months the two hosts and St. Pauli local matadors John and Rene with their team take care of cooling down.

The offer

On the summer deck everything revolves around classic cocktails and modern own creations. Weekly changing specials ensure variety on the drinks menu and really no one should leave Spielbudenplatz without trying either the homemade Mexican, the iced tea or the refreshing basil lemonade. And then there’s a whiskey selection that’s well worth checking out… In short, no one goes home thirsty here. Events such as rustic BBQ evenings and DJ sets round off the sundowner with the best view of the colorful hustle and bustle of the neighborhood.

Here, residents, bartenders, bouncers and birds of paradise from the district meet tourists and spend balmy summer evenings together to rocky to electronic sounds.

The hosts

John and Rene have probably been seen by everyone who regularly hangs out on the Kiez. John has a history of more than 20 years with Spielbudenplatz, which has already taken him to the kukuun, St. Pauli Theater and the Hausbar as a bartender or bar manager. Having also already operated a container on Spielbudenplatz for 9 years, he has been a permanent part of the team since 2021, even beyond the summer. Rene also works and lives on the Kiez forever and you know him as a tour guide of the Kiezjungs – Kieztouren. Both know the district inside out and will ensure unforgettable evenings on the summer deck from now on.
